Day 16
Thoughts: I was in woolworths and again they only had seedless lemons, aaahh so I went up to 3 woolworths workers and took my seedless lemon in my hand and asked for a regular lemon, they looked at the what I call imitation lemon (hehe)and then at me like a idiot, and I said I like seeds, they asked why, I said because its natural...uh they looked blank, they didnt get it! It seems people are loosing touch with naturalness...like it doesn't seem to matter any more!

As a disposable, chemical dependant society, we are undoubtedly moving away from, and still trying to dominate nature, like taking the seeds out of lemons and watermelons! Most of us don't consider being contaminated by chemicals as we live out our everyday lives and move through the world. We're often oblivious to how our food is produces, where it comes from, who produces it, and when fruit and vegetables are actually in season. We assume that we can trust the safety of the personal products we use, that our health will not be affected by these products. We know now that this is not necessarily the case. So what do we need to do to have our bodies, our selves, our babies, and young people flourish in a toxic world? Stay tuned and each day I will post more info, learning for myself too as I go along! We are on this journey together fellow earthlings!

Challenges: 349 days is a lot of days to go!!! hehe aahhh! I sometimes get sad when I think about chocolate and Nandos.
Triumphs: I was in the gym tonight, and I did some weights, and guess what I noticed I was stronger! Which is crazy because I haven't lifted weights for ages, I feel like im stronger because Ive detoxed the sugar and crap out of my muscles, so they are naturally stronger and more lean! woooo. Oh and another triumph today, well it's my friend Jane's birthday and I am having her over for dinner Saturday night, so I will cook her a pineapple curry (recipe thanks to Lauryn!) and a chocolate tart! So im excited because it means that before Saturday I will learn how to make chocolate from scratch and a tart base! woooo! Oh and also...I noticed that when I was consuming chocolate and sugar, the sugar in the fruit didnt stand out to me, now it seems to rich and full of flavour! I had grapes for dessert, and they were beautifully sweet and fufilling!
oh oh oh and today was the first day that I used Agave syrup!!! I used it as an alternative to sugar in my teriyaki sauce! It tasted amazing! My friend Elisha told me about Agave syrup, a last week I had no idea this existed! If only more people knew that this is a substitute to sugar, and it's totally natural, derived from a plant! Agave syrup is harvested by the Aztecs in the region of Mexico. Agave is central to their culture and they have been harvesting for thousands of years. Agave syrup has low Glycemic Index, and is diabetic friendly. As a replacement for sugar, use 25% less Agave syrup than you would usually use of sugar!
What I Ate Today:
Breakfast: Oh haha I made a bread thing out of buckwheat flour, and egg and water, baked it in the oven and then put crushed peanuts on it, so it was my substitute to peanut butter on toast! and well it did satisfy my cravings! haha but I know it doesn't look to flash in the photo!
Lunch: cherries mmmm and lots of them!
Dinner: Salmon with terraky sauce, rice and brocoli.
Dessert: 2 handfuls of purple grapes...mmm soo sweet
Snacks: 2 tablespoons of peanut butter (pure crushed peanuts)
Cost: 2 salmon fillets $12, olive oil $5.99, organic free range eggs $7 (I noticed there was only one brand that is certified organic),cherries $3.75 my seedfull lemon heh 66 cents (for deoderant)
Recipe: Teriyaki salmon with rice and brocoli!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup Gluten-Free Soy Sauce (ingredients water, sea salt and whole soya beans)
1/4 cup water
2-3 tablespoon of Agave Syrup (a natural alternative to sugar!!!! Get it, if you don't have it use honey or last choice brown sugar)
1 Teaspoon of minced garlic
up to 1/4 cup minced green onions (shallots)
Directions: First start cooking your rice. Then a bowl add water and soy sauce. Then stir in the Agave syrup (or honey, brown sugar) until completely dissolved. Then add onion and garlic. Cut up your broccoli (or any desired vegetable), and steam it. Put sauce in a pot and bring to the boil and then allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Pour on your salmon/rice/vegetables. mmm mmm mmmm!
And check out this recipe from my earth friend Elisha, she is the healthiest, earthiest person I know! "Just made the BEST stir-fry... carrots, asparagus, caremelised onions, chia seeds, cabbage, fresh ginger, fresh garlic, red & green capsicum, avocado oil, kepac manis and brown rice (with chia seeds)"
Exercise: worked my butt off (literally) at the gym for 60 minutes...10 minutes in the sauna, 10 minutes on the bike, 10 minutes running, 15 minutes weights, 15 minutes climbing 390 steps! ...the burn feels good!
