Day 15

Thoughts:Yes we are living longer, but sicker. Did you know that as a population we eat more processed, preservative, additive-packed, low-nutrient food and drink than any other time in history! I am learning so much from my friend Eddie Kachab's book "Chemical Free Kids". And get this, there are over 100,000 synthetic chemicals available on the market. They are in everything, and you probably wouldn't even think twice about! From shampoo, hair dye, nail polish, moisterizer, cleanng products, clothing, washing detergant (for chemical free laundry wash balls so you will never have to buy detergant again go to www.laundryball.com.au). We ingest, absorb and inhale these chemicals everyday. They get into our bodies and end up in our bloodstream and get stored in our organs. Many are cacinogens, suspected carcinogens, hormone disruptors, allergens and other harmful substances. You know when someone has depression the doctor will tell them they have a chemical imbalance, well thats exactly it, reduce chemicals and I'm sure your body will nuetralize and the depression will reduce or even disappear!

What are chemicals?
Everything we can see, touch, smell and taste is a chemical, or more accurately a mixture of many different chemicals. Thousands of products are produced by chemical industry and include medicines, agricultural chemicals, including substance to eliminate pests, pesticides, fundicides, herbicides, then soaps and detergant, syntheic fibres and rubbers, paper chemicals, plastics and resins, adhesives, substances used in processing, preservation and treatment in foods (food additives), additives for drinking water, explosives, personal care products, shampoos, toothpastes, baby wipes, body wash, textile (washing).

Challenges The last 3 days have been challenging. I guess my body is really craving chemicals and has not been this long EVER without them! I was tired all day today and we hd a photoshoot for Lass by Leila Sweeney, and Fabian the photographer who knows me well asked why I was low on energy. I explained the Earth Diet and that my body is going through some shifts. But aahhh it's frustrating. My old thought patterns were that if I had sugar or chocolate it would give me energy, but actually its a fact that sugar weakens out muscles! It's a myth that sugar gives us energy. It may for a little while, but then leaves us feeling more weak and tired than when we ate it. My friend Jasmine showed me this thing, you should try it with someone. Get them to hold there arm up and tell them to hold it up as strong as they can, then push their arm down. Feel and see their strength. Then give them a tablespoon of sugar to eat, then repeat the arm exercise and see the dramatic change in their strength! When Jaz did this to me, I got how sugar does not actually give you energy and make you stronger, that it actually weakens your muscles!

Triumphs: If I hadn't had this blog today I would have eaten hot chips, cold rock ice cream, sushi with soy sauce and deep fried terraki chicken sushi,and nandos. So its a good thing I have this blog! Hehe! I just keep thinking "Oh maybe if I have organic chocolate it will be ok", but thats not the game I am playing so don't worry I did not give in!!! Thanks to you and this blog :)

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: Boiled egg, strawberries and rockmelon

Lunch: avocado sushi, fresh juice (pineapple, lemon, orange and ginger mmmm!)

Dinner: cashew chicken (recipe below)

Dessert:

Snacks:macadamia nuts, cherrys, (mmmm so good for sugar craving!2 boiled eggs, strawberries and rockmelon.

Recipe: Cashew Chicken Recipe (Szechwan)

Serves Four

Necessary Ingredients

2 whole organic free range chicken breasts, boned, skinned and cut into 3/4-inch cubes
1/2 cup of raw cashews
1 table spoon of Chinese rice wine or dry sherry (I did not use but you can if you want)
1 table spoon of wheat free soy sauce (soy beans, water and salt)
2 table spoon of additional soy sauce
1/2 to 1 tea spoon crushed red pepper flakes or fresh chilli
2 tea spoon of agave syrup (or sugar if you eat sugar, Agave is a natural sweet syrup from a plant)
1 tea spoon of white vinegar (I did not use but you can if you want)
1 table spoon of cornstarch (I did not use but you can if you want)
1/4 cup of olive oil or extra virgin coconut oil
1 table spoon of minced fresh ginger
3 sliced green onions
Cooked rice
Directions

Marinate the chicken in 1 table spoon of soy sauce and rice wine for thirty minutes.
Combine 2 table spoon soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar and vinegar and set aside.
Heat the oil in a wok or skillet.
Now add red pepper to taste and cook until black.
Add the chicken and then stir fry for two minutes.
Remove the chicken and then add the green onions and ginger and stir fry for 1 minute.
Return the chicken to the wok
Now cook four two minutes.
While continuously stirring, add the soy sauce mixture and any remaining chicken marinade. Then add the cashews.
Serve the meal over cooked rice.
